Dear Mr Shahid
As my replacement hip approaches its first birthday (21 st December), I wanted to write to you to say THANK YOU. To thank you for giving me back a painfree, active life. I can now swim, join my friends at our Pilates group and walk for miles without pain. I will be forever grateful to you and your team.
Just coming up to 2 weeks after my hip surgery the whole process has been fantastic, meeting Susan green who put me at ease then I met the Consultant Mr Shahid a real person who explains everything in detail and then delivers with his expertise, all the staff looked after me all’s I can say is what a team. THANK YOU
Firstly thank you and your team who dealt with me for my right hip. Not forgetting nurse Luca who was very caring towards me – a very special person. After my operation, the excruciating pain I was feeling before my op, of which I endured over the course of around 18 months , went the day when the operation took place. After my operation!! I have had a new hip fitted. I’m writing to say a big thank you to Mr Kamran Shahid, my surgeon and Richard his assistant for the great job they have done. I was a bit worries about the operation but it all went smoothly also thank you to all the nurses and helpers for looking after me after the operation, also the physio and anaesthetist. Thank you to anyone I have forgotten. I’m doing really well and hope to get more mobile in time.
Just want to thank you for the wonderful job you did on my left knee. The whole experience was so much better than before. I worked hard and was able to bend to 90 degrees by the end of the first week, quite an achievement for me! The scar is healing well and so neat. I wish you a happy new year.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Shahid, his theatre staff and all the nursing and support staff that attended to me as part of the hip replacement operation. Prior to my operation my quality of life had been severely compromised due to the pain and restrictions that my failing hip was causing. Since the operation I am now effectively without pain and can enjoy a increasingly active life again. IF you should ever wonder if you are doing a good thing in your jobs, I can assure you that you are. I am truly amazed at my rate of recovery, no doubt due in large part to the skilled professionals who looked after me, and a renewed job in everyday activities.
I just wanted to write and say how very well I was care for when I had my total knee replacement surgery on 11th October. The ward staff, both the day and night shift, were so helpful and knowledgeable and I felt very reassured and cared for.
On top of this I cannot speak more highly of Mr Shahid, my surgeon, who together with his team and Dr Dimi, the anaesthetist were so thorough, Mr Shahid saw me before the operation and explained in detail what he was going to do and what to expect. Not only that, he visited me twice after the operation to explain what he had done and how I should progress as he had found my skin had been very fragile. He could not have been more caring. On top of this I could not believe how pain free I have been compared to the earlier operation on my other knee.
I feel my life is returning to me after nearly 5 years of pain. Again I cannot thank your staff enough and I hope you will convey this to them.
Thank you for the successful operation in replacing my old worn out hip. I am very happy with the new one. Kind regards.

From the early morning smiles at Reception to the helping hands getting into the car on departure, everyone was cheerful and understanding. I was going home- out of pain and well fed by catering!
The pre-op consultations were thorough, easy and friendly – the level of care and atmosphere in the hospital was both efficient and pleasant.
Mr Shahid and his team were excellent.
I must appreciated the concern of the pharmacist who called me the week after my op. She put my mind at rest.
I have now had 2 operations at Shepton Mallet Hospital and I would have no hesitation in using them again myself, and will certainly recommend Shepton to my friends and family.
I am writing to say a big thank you for an excellent hip operation. When I first met you, you said that you would do me an excellent hip operation but that I must listen to you and only you, which I have done. You are obviously a man of your word. Hopefully I will be fortunate enough to get my right hip sorted by you as well!

You may recall that you very kindly carried out a hip replacement operation for me, I’m at home now conscientiously following the exercise program and your advice. I have to say I’m absolutely delighted with the results and I wanted to thank you personally, and of course the anaesthetist Dr Gabor and your assistant Corrine (and indeed all the team) for looking after me so well.
I know you must do dozens of these operations every year and you can’t possibly remember all your patients but for each one of us, it’s a life changing event and I wanted you to know how much I appreciate what you’ve done.
